The simple fact is that none of us were even there when God created everything. So, what can we conclude? Well, we can conclude that we are not God (seriously…) (consider Job 38 – 42.) but we are part of His plan. We are no mistake. There is an intention behind creation – behind each person – behind you and me. So here it is, the meaning of life.
Pray: Ask God to clear your mind of distractions and discern His voice in your life.
Read: Ephesians 1:11-14 and Micah 6:8
Questions: What is your purpose in life? Do you struggle with finding a reason for living?
What purpose does Paul say that God crated us for?
Paul talks about a glorious life. What do you think is a glorious life? (consider John 10:10-11, Psalm 23, Revelation 7:15-17)
Application: Many people read this passage and think that by being a Christian, we no longer will go through trials or hardships. That is not at all the case. From Matthew 8:20 we see that the life of a Christian is not easy and will involve persecution. The “glorious life” that Paul talks about is a life that is satisfied with just praising God. If he had nothing but the skin on his back, he would be happy giving thanks to God. Why? Reread Ephesians 1:13-14. For His own reason, God decided that He loved us. So He created a way for us to break free from this messed-up world, which is full of sin, through Jesus. There was nothing to gain on God’s part but your love. Do you know this Jesus? Have you ever experienced the sheer happiness that comes from praising God?
Pray: Thank God for creating us. Thank Him for giving us the choice and will to worship and follow Him.
